Bo Skovhus
He studied at the Aarhus Music Institute, the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen and in New York. Significant projects in his career include Reimann's Lear at the Paris Opera, Beckmesser in Meistersinger at the Bastille and at the Wagner Festival in Budapest, Titus in Bérénice by Michael Jarrell at the Paris Opera and Mandryka in Arabella at the Semperoper in Dresden. He also sang the title role in Wozzeck at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Dr Schön in Lulu at the Vienna State Opera, followed by Šiškov Aus einem Totenhaus at the Bavarian State Opera, Jean-Charles Das Floß der Medusa (Werner Henze) in Amsterdam, the title roles in Karl V (Ernst Krenek) at the Bavarian State Opera, Lear at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Eugen Onegin at the Hamburg State Opera. In summer 2021, he stepped in at short notice as Beckmesser Die Meistersinger at the Bayreuth Festival. He appeared at the Vienna State Opera as Ryuji in Henze's Das Verratene Meer, at the Hamburg State Opera as Eisenstein Der Fledermaus, at the Berlin State Opera as Jaroslav Prus Vec Makropulos, in Boston, at the Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Verbier Festival as Wozzeck (concertante), as Vater Bluthaus, at the Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich, as Plato Kusmitsch Kovalev Die Nase at the Semperoper Dresden and at the Theater an der Wien as Dr. Schön Lulu.
In the recent past, Bo Skovhus has appeared as Faninal Der Rosenkavalier at the Grand Théâtre of Geneva, as Lear in Madrid, as Jaroslav Prus Die Sache Makropulos in Amsterdam, with the Singapore Symphony Group in Brahms' Requiem and in L'heure espagnole in Singapore, in a festive Recital at the House of Arts in Budapest and as the Count in concert performances of Capriccio at the Salzburg Festival and at the Edinburgh Festival.
Future engagements include: Faninal Der Rosenkavalier at the Zurich Opera House, Ich in Leben mit einem Idioten (Alfred Schnittke) in Zurich, Clow in György Kurtág's Fin de Partie at the Berlin State Opera, Dante in Pascal Dusapin's Viaggio Dante at the Opéra de Paris, Meister Astaroth in Unsuk Chin's Die dunkle Seite der Mondes in Hamburg (world premiere) as well as other projects not yet released for publication.
The artist has been awarded the title "Österreichischer Kammersänger" and the title "Bayerischer Kammersänger"
