Elsa Dreisig

The French-Danish soprano Elsa Dreisig studied at the Paris Conservatory. In 2015 she was accepted into the opera studio of the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden, and in 2017 she joined the permanent ensemble of this house. There she has performed roles such as Pamina Die Zauberflöte, Euridice Orfeo ed Euridice, Violetta La traviata, Diane Hippolyte et Aricie, Gretchen in Schumann's Scenes from Goethe's Faust, Gretel Hansel and Gretel, Natascha in the world premiere of Beat Furrer's Violetter Schnee, Countess Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro and Donna Elvira Don Giovanni. In January 2017 she made her debut at the Paris Opéra as Pamina, where she returned as Lauretta Gianni Schicchi, Zerlina Don Giovanni, Elvira I puritani and Juliette Roméo et Juliette. She has also sung Musetta La bohème and Massenet's Manon at the Zurich Opera House, Micaëla Carmen and the title role in Salome at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Fiordiligi Così fan tutte and Giulietta in concert performances of I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Salzburg Festival, Manon at the Vienna State Opera, Countess Almaviva at La Scala in Milan and Donna Elvira at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia.
As a concert singer, Elsa Dreisig undertook a European tour with the Berlin Philharmonic under Simon Rattle with Haydn's Creation, during which she made her Salzburg Festival debut in 2017. She has also performed on a European tour with the London Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven's Christ on the Mount of Olives, as well as with the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Vienna, Berlin and Munich Philharmonics, the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Orchestre Français des Jeunes and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. She has worked with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi, Franz Welser-Möst, Massimo Zanetti and David Zinman.
Highlights of the 2023/24 season included Mahler's 4th Symphony on a European tour, Countess Almaviva and Lauretta/Un'amante Il trittico at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Sifare Mitridate in Berlin and Elisabetta Roberto Devereux and Anna Bolena in Donizetti's three Tudor operas at the Grand Théâtre de Genève. She made her role debut as Mimí La bohème at the Trondheim Opera and sang Elettra in concert performances of Idomeneo under Simon Rattle in Munich.
Elsa Dreisig records exclusively for Warner Classics / Erato. Her first solo album, Miroir(s) (2018), received many awards. Her second solo album, Morgen, recorded with pianist Jonathan Ware, was released in 2020. Her most recent album, Mozart x 3, with arias from Mozart's Da Ponte operas, Idomeneo, Lucio Silla and La clemenza di Tito, was released in 2022.
Elsa Dreisig is an ambassador for the Opera for Peace project. In 2019, she was awarded the Crown Prince Couple's Cultural Prize in Denmark.
