Elena Copons

Elena Copons began her vocal studies in Barcelona with Dolors Aldea and continued at the Konservatorium Wien with Helga Wagner and Sylvia Greenberg. She completed further studies in “Lied and Oratorio” with Birgit Steinberger and Carolyn Hague.
In 2006 Elena won the “Best Singer” prize at the “Curs Internacional de Música Isaac Albéniz” in Spain. In 2007 she was awarded 2nd place at the “Internationaler Lied Wettbewerb Hugo Wolf” in Stuttgart.
Since 2008 Elena has performed regularly at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, where she will appear next season as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Further opera engagements have included performances at Teatro Real, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Kammeroper Graz, Musikwerkstatt Wien, Carinthischen Sommer Festival, Opernfestspielen St. Margarethen and the Festival Musiktheatertage Wien.
With a broad range of concert repertoire, including the most important works from all eras, Elena Copons has performed in international concert halls and opera houses such as the Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, Theater an der Wien, Lisztzentrum in Raiding, Teatro Real, Liceu, L’Auditori and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada, as well as the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. She has also appeared at the Festival Osterklang in Wien, Festival Loisiarte, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspielen, Festival Musica Sacra Padeborn and at the Summerproms in Munich.
Elena has performed with the most important orchestras in Spain as well as with the Staatskapelle Weimar, I Solisti Veneti, RSO Wien, Münchner Symphonikern, Camerata Salzburg, Prager Philharmonia, Wiener Kammerorchester, and with conductors including Sir Neville Marriner, Claudio Scimone, Leopold Hager, Paul Daniel, Harry Bicket, Sebastian Weigle, Ivor Bolton, Marc Piollet, Salvador Mas-Conde, Antoni Ros-Marbà, Josep Pons, among others.
Elena Copons is also dedicated to art song. As part of “The Schubert Project“ presented by the Oxford Lieder Festival, she gave concerts at the Holywell Music Room in Oxford and at Kings Place in London together with pianists Roger Vignoles, Sholto Kynoch and Deirdre Brenner. This season she performed a recital together with Marcelo Amaral as part of the series “Der Ganze Hugo Wolf” in Stuttgart. Her song recitals in L’Auditori and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona im 2015 were received with critical acclaim, as was her debut at the renowned festival “Schubertíada de Vilabertran 2015“.
In addition to numerous song recitals in Spain with Jordi Armengol and Francisco Poyato, Elena has also given recitals in the Wiener Musikverein, Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Palau de la Música Catalana and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, at the Hochschule “Hanns Eisler“ in Berlin, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspielen and as part of the innovative concert series Mosaïque in Vienna.
Elena Copons has recorded live for broadcasts on ORF, Catalunya Música, Radio Nacional de España, MEDICI TV and the Catalan television station TV3, as well as for many additional CD and DVD productions.
Her recording together with the OBV and Antoni Ros Marbà of the song cycle for soprano and orchestra, La rosa als llavis, by Toldràs appears on the CD “Impressions”. This recording was recognized by the “Enderrock Awards 2013“ as the Best Classical CD 2012.
