Sarah Fahie

Australian-born Sarah Fahie trained as a dancer at the London Contemporary Dance School and graduated with an MA in Choreography following a BA Hons degree majoring in Dramaturgy and Literature at the University of Melbourne In 2003 she received a Jerwood Foundation Choreography Award.
She regularly collaborates with director Richard Jones: projects together have included Don Giovanni and Rodelinda for English National Opera, The Gambler, Il Tabarro and Suor Angelica at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Peter Grimes at La Scala, Der Rosenkavalier and Falstaff for Glyndebourne, David's Sawer's music theatre piece Rumplestiltskin with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and The Trial for The Young Vic. She has provided choreography for Oliver Mears’ production of Don Giovanni at Bergen National Opera and Northern Ireland Opera, Annilese Miskimmon’s Semele for Garsington Opera, Stephen Medcalf’s productions of Capriccio at Grange Park, Aida at the Royal Albert Hall and The Bartered Bride for Mid Wales Opera and was movement director for Olivia Fuchs on Hansel und Gretel for Garsington Opera. Sarah provided movement for the première of Philip Venables' 4:48 Psychosis, directed by Ted Huffman, for the Royal Opera House at the Lyric Hammersmith which won the Evening Standard UK Theatre Award for Achievement in Opera 2016.
Sarah's work has been broadcast by the BBC, Sky and RAI. Il Tabarro and Suor Angelica have been released on DVD by Opus Arte winning both an Opera and a Gramophone award with Peter Grimes and Der Rosenkavalier appearing on the same label. 
As a director Sarah has revived Falstaff for Glyndebourne (summer season and tour), Der Rosenkavalier for Glyndebourne at The Proms,  Il Tabarro and Suor Angelica for Royal Opera House and Rumpelstiltskin for Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. 
Her plans include movement for new productions of La Boheme for The Royal Opera House and The Skating Rink for Garsington and revivals Rodelinda for ENO. As director she will revive Der Rosenkavalier for Glyndebourne and as director and dramaturg Sarah is collaborating with composer Sarah Angliss and writer Ross Sutherland on the development of a new opera, Giant, as part of the Jerwood Opera Writing Programme at Snape Maltings.
