Magnus Dietrich

Member of the international opera studio at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, he made his successful debut as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte there in the 2022/23 last season. He also recently made his debut at the Semperoper Dresden in the same role. 
In the 2022/23 season he will be singing Leukippos in Strauss‘ Daphne as well as Tamino in Berlin. He will also sing roles such as the Steuermann in Der fliegende Holländer, the 1. Jude in Salome and Lerma in Don Carlo.
With his repertoire, Magnus Dietrich covers all epochs from baroque to classic and romantic to modern music. These include, each under the direction of Thomas Guggeis, the Junker Spärlich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor and Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos, 1. Parze in Hippolyte et Aricie under Simon Rattle, Ein Wirt in Der Rosenkavalier under Simone Young and Peter Karpati in Christian Jost’s Die Arabische Nacht. Magnus Dietrich is a scholarship holder of the Liz Mohn Culture and Music Foundation.
He maintains a lively concert schedule and is a guest at such renowned festivals as the International Hugo Wolf Academy, the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Kissinger Sommer, the Festival de Santes or the Bach Academy France. Concert tours have also taken him to France, Belgium and the Netherlands with the soloist ensemble Vox Luminis.
Magnus Dietrich recently sang Mendelssohns Elias under Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker as well as Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with the Staatskapelle Berlin under Marc Minkowski and also made a guest appearance with it in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and the Philharmonie Berlin. 
Highlights of the 2022/23 season include Mozart’s Requiem with Marc Mincowski and Les Musiciens du Louvre and with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Kreuzchor Dresden. In addition, he will perform in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in the Concert Hall at the Helsinki Music Center together with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nicolas Collon.
A CD with Brahms duets together with the pianist Doriana Tchakarova as well as Felicitas and Judith Erb was released on the MDG label in May 2022. 
Magnus Dietrich is the 2nd prizewinner in the opera category and a special prizewinner at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang 2022. He was also awarded with the Brixen Classics Young Artist Award 2022. 
The Munich tenor studied singing with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the Munich University of Music and Theater and privately with Hartmut Elbert. Master classes with Andrew Watts, Neil Shicoff, Bo Skovhus and Hedwig Fassbender complete his education.
