Andreas Schager
The Austrian heldentenor Andreas Schager was initially at home in the lyrical Mozart and operetta repertoire until he switched to the heroic roles of Wagner and Strauss in 2011. Since then he has made his debut worldwide with outstanding success at the big houses and festivals such as the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, to whose ensemble he has been a member since 2015, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma at the State Operas of Vienna, Munich, Dresden and Hamburg, at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, at the BBC Proms, the Bayreuth Festival and at the opera houses in Frankfurt and Leipzig. Highlights of the past few years include: Apollo in Strauss' Daphne in Cleveland and in New York's Carnegie Hall, Erik in The Flying Dutchman and Parsifal at the Bayreuth Festival, Siegfried in Götterdämmerung at the Canadian Opera in Toronto and at the Semperoper Dresden, Max in Der Freischütz at the Vienna State Opera and new productions of Fidelio, Parsifal and Tristan und Isolde at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden under Daniel Barenboim. He also gave i.a. made his debut as Lohengrin at the Vienna State Opera and at the Prague National Theater and impersonated Siegfried at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
