Victoria Randem

Norwegian-Nicaraguan soprano Victoria Randem, described as possessing “meltingly lovely top notes” (Financial Times) and singing with “lush equanimity and beautiful shadings” (Bachtrack) has distinguished herself as a versatile operatic young talent, compelling in a variety of repertoire from Mozart to contemporary works.
Randem’s magnetic stage presence, moving with ease from one world to another coupled with her distinguishably warm lyric timbre, commands the attention of the audiences and the critics alike.
Victoria’s professional career began in her native Oslo, when during her studies she was invited to debut at the Norwegian National Opera as Barbarina in Thaddeus Strassberger’s production of Le nozze di Figaro, repeat invitations to appear with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) at the Norwegian National Opera in the role of Gretel Hänsel und Gretel, and a Gala Concert “Ønskekonserten” broadcast by the Norwegian Public Radio NRK followed.
Randem’s enormous potential was recognized internationally when she was invited to join the Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Lindens prestigious OperaStudio with appearances as Ilia in Idomeneo, Papagena Die Zauberflöte, Ännchen Der Freischütz with Alexander Suddy, Blumenmädchen in Parsifal with Daniel Barenboim and Jano in Jenufa with Sir Simon Rattle.
Subsequently, Randem was offered to join the Staatsoper Berlin soloist ensemble, where her roles include Rachel in Hans Werner Henze’s La piccola Cubana, Pamina Die Zauberflöte,  Die Waldvogel in Dmitry Tchernyakov’s new Siegfried under C.Thielemann, Damigella/Fortuna in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Marzelline Fidelio, Anna Reich in Lustigen Weiber von Windsor.
Her compelling portrayal of the tragic heroine Alida in a world premiere of Peter Eötvös’ Sleepless earned her the title of “Star of the evening” (Morgenpost) and was noted as “strong in acting and sound, [with] great colors, rich timbre” (Konzertkritic). With Alida, Randem has solidified her status as an artist to watch, garnering outstanding reviews in Berlin, Switzerland, and Hungary with the work premiering at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and at MÜPA Budapest.
Her expressive singing and charismatic performances were acknowledged with ensuing invitations to debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper as Belinda in Warlokowski’s new production of Dido and Aeneas, at the Glyndebourne Festival as Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Liverpool Philharmonic with Mozart Requiem under Corinna Niemeyer. 
She recently made appereances with Grand Théâtre de Genève, Norwegian National Opera, Bergen Philharmonic, Stuttgarter Philharmonic and Oslo Oratoriekor with the Brahms Requiem
