The Argentinean baritone, Mariano Fernández Bustinza, began studying voice, piano, guitar, harmony and counterpoint in his hometown Gaiman, Chubut province. In Buenos Aires his teachers were Víctor Torres, Nino Falzetti and Ricardo Yost in technical and Catalina Hadis, Susana Cardonnet, Mercedes Alas and Marcela Esoín in repertoire. He graduated in singing from the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón. In 1998 he received the Award for Musical Excellence in Eisteddfod of Chubut.

Mariano Fernández Bustinza performed the roles of Masetto in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Dancairo in Georges Bizet's Carmen and Papageno on W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte for the production of Juventus Lyrica. He participated as a soloist in various roles in recent seasons of Buenos Aires Lirica. He completed training courses of opera with José Van Dam (Belgium) and oratorio and Baroque style with the Guillermo Opitz and counter-tenor Jeffrey Gall (USA).

Mariano Fernández Bustinza won the competition for young voices for performing the role of Belcore in L'elisir d'amore in the 2009 season at the Teatro Colón. He appeared as soloist in W.A. Mozart's Mass with the Coro Nacional de Jóvenes and the Orquesta sinfónica de Salta; J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) with the choir and orchestra of the UBA and Monteverd's Vespro Della Beata Virgine at the Teatro Colón and Teatro Argentino de La Plata. Abroad he sang the role of Belcore in L'elisir d'amore Dandini in La Cenerentola and Malatesta in Don Pasquale in  Chile and participated as soloist at the Festival Internacional de Música Barrroca de Bolivia (2004). In 2010 season he took part in Giulio Cesare at Teatro Argentino de La Plata.
