Magdalena Kožená studied singing and piano at the Brno Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In 2004 she received the Gramophone Artist of the Year award, which was followed by other awards such as the ECHO Klassik, the Record Academy Prize Tokyo and the Diapason d'or. She has had long-standing collaborations with the Dutch classical music label Pentatone, with whom she released recordings such as Nostalgia (2021) in collaboration with Yefim Bronfman. Recent opera highlights include the title role in Alcina with Les Musiciens du Louvre, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni at the Mozart Week in Salzburg and the waitress in Kaija Saariaho's Innocence at the Festival d'Aix en Provence. She sang under the musical direction, among others. by Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Mariss Jansons, Charles Mackerras and Roger Norrington. Her outstanding concert partners include the pianists Daniel Barenboim, Malcolm Martineau, András Schiff and Mitsuko Uchida, with whom she has performed in concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, the Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and at the festivals in Aldeburgh, Edinburgh and Salzburg occured. Magdalena Kožená is also a sought-after soloist with the Berlin, Vienna and Czech Philharmonics, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and historical performance ensembles such as La Cetra and Venice Baroque Orchestra.
