Krzysztof Bączyk became a member of the Poznan Boys’ Choir and then studied music at the Academy of Music where he was named best student of the year in 2010. He also followed the masterclasses of Neil Shicoff, Anita Garanča, Andrzej Dobber, Ann Murray and David Pountney.
In December 2010, he entered the Academy of the Poznan Grand Theatre where he was able to acquire a wide-ranging repertoire by appearing in works such as Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Hamlet, Aida, Eugene Onegin, Le Nozze di Figaro, Parsifal, Don Giovanni, and Der Freischütz. In 2012 and 2013, he took part in the Aix Festival Academy where he received the Prix des Amis du Festival. He sang the roles of Nettuno and Tindaro in Cavalli’s Elena on a tour of France, the First Priest and the Second Armoured Man in Die Zauberflöte as well as Melisso in Alcina at the Aix Festival (in 2014 and 2015). In 2016, he made his Warsaw Opera debut in the role of Publio La Clemenza di Tito and performed at the the Salzburg Festival as Poliphemo Acis et Galatée under the direction of Marc Minkowski.
He has sung the roles of Colline La Bohème in Cagliari, the Commendatore and Masetto Don Giovanni in Stockholm, Capellio I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Melisso Alcina, Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor, Masetto and Colline at the Zurich Opera. He also performed Mozart’s Requiem at the Lorraine Opera. His other roles include Masetto, at both the Aix Festival and the Beaune Festival, Sarastro Die Zauberflöte and Zuniga Carmen in Warsaw, Melisso at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Faust and the Inquisitor The Fiery Angel at the Aix Festival and in Warsaw, and Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse. He made his Paris Opera debut as the Monk in Don Carlos, his Bilbao debut at the ABAO in La Bohème and his U.S. debut performing Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
