Julian Hubbard

Julian's future performances include Malcolm in Macbeth for La Monnaie, Walther in Tannhäuser for Longborough Festival Opera, and Pontio Pilato in Das Liebesverbot for Chelsea Opera Group. Recent performances include the role of Jimmy Mahoney in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Gamekeeper and cover Prince in Rusalka for Scottish Opera, a Schumann concert series for Opera Theatre Company, recitals of Die Schöne Müllerin around Ireland, and Aldeburgh.
His career highlights include appearances at English National Opera, Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie, Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park.
Julian Hubbard has recently made the transition to tenor under the tutelage of Janice Chapman and is currently working on repertoire including Max Der Freischütz, Siegmund Die Walküre, Macduff Mackbeth, Prince Rusalka, Don Jose Carmen and Tamino Die Zauberflöte. He made his tenor debut as Jimmy Mahoney in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Stadt Mahagonny in Dublin with Opera Theatre Company. He has worked with acclaimed international conductors including Adam Fischer, Carlo Rizzi, Richard Bonynge, Francesco Corti, Jan Latham-Koenig, Christian Curnyn. 
As a baritone, Julian Hubbard’s opera roles included Fiorello Il Barbiere di Siviglia for English National Opera, Schaunard La Boheme for Scottish Opera, Huntsman Rusalka and Cappadocian Salome for Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie, Duke of Nottingham Roberto Devereux for Opera Holland Park, Melisso Alcina for Opera Theatre Company, Aeneas Dido and Aneas, Guglielmo Cosi fan tutte, Mercutio Romeo et Juliette for British Youth Opera, Drunken Poet/Hymen Fairy Queen at the Aldeburgh Festival 2005, Mr Gedge Albert Herring at the Britten Weekend at Aldeburgh. He sang Dr. Falke Die Fledermaus and Dandini La Cenerentola for Scottish Opera, Guglielmo Cosi fan tutte for Garden Opera and Castleward Opera and Juan in Henze’s Das Wundertheater at the Montepulciano Festival.
Julian trained at the Royal College of Music and The National Opera Studio in London.
