Esther Bialas
Esther Bialas studied costume design at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Hamburg. She works as a stage and costume designer and worked for years with Nicolas Stemann (including for Hamlet, Berliner Theatertreffen 2002, the world premiere of Elfriede Jelinek's Das Werk, Berliner Theatertreffen 2004 and Die Räuber, Berliner Theatertreffen 2009).
With the acting collective Laborlavache she worked on stage and costume pictures for several works by Christiane Pohle. She has also collaborated with Barrie Kosky several times: Most recently, stage and costumes were created for his productions Die Zauberflöte, Ball im Savoy and West Side Story at the Komische Oper Berlin. At the Vienna State Opera in 2015 she equipped Tri Sestri by Peter Eötvös (Director: Yuval Sharon). For Stefan Herheim she created the costumes for Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Bregenz Festival 2015, Copenhagen 2017), La Cenerentola (Oslo and Lyon 2017) as well as for Sigrid Strøm Reibo's staging of Norma at the Oslo Opera 2018.
Esther Bialas also taught costume design at the HfBK in Hamburg.
