Dante Ranieri

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he got a degree in piano at the age of 16. We began voice lessons with Italian tenor Emilio Livi. In 1969 he made his debut at the Argentinean Theatre in La Plata with Puccini’s Manon Lescaut Des Grieux. Afterwards he would sing in that theatre the tenor leading roles in the operas Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, Don Carlo, La Bohème, Lucía di Lammermoor, L’elixir d’amore and Manon and the operetas Der Graf von Luxemburg and Die Fledermaus. With this last operetta, he made his debut in 1974 at the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, joining its ensemble, of which he is a member to the day. There, he has taken part of operas such as Salome, Die Frauen ohne Schatten, Boris Godunov, La Finta Giardinera, L’Ajo nell’imbarazzo, La Sonnambula, La Traviata, Lucía di Lammermoor, Romeo et Juliette, Manon, Le Nozze di Figaro and L’elisir d’amore
He performed also in all the provinces of Argentina and he worked with musical organizations of prestige, such as Friends of Music, Wagnerian Association, Argentinean Mozarteum, Buenos Aires Festivals and ARS Musicalis. Internationally, he performed in Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, United States and Spain. 
In 1984, the Verdian Association in Buenos Aires awarded him as with the Best Tenor of the Season award for his performance in Massenet’s Manon. He has a repertoire of more than two hunred operas, operetas and zarzuelas, plus sacred music and chamber songs, specialty in which he has devote to exhume little known works of many authors. In 1986 he recorded the disc Tosti Inédito (Unpublished Tosti), including very little known songs of that Italian composer. 
He has sang among personalities of great importance such as Brigit Nilsson, Eva Marton, Ruth Welting, Rosalind Elias, Mara Zampieri, Stefanía Toszysca, Myrtha Garbarini, Ana María Gonzalez, Martha Colalillo, Cristina Carlín, Elisa Brex, Ángel Mattiello, Victor de Narké, Sesto Bruscantini, Rolando Panerai, NIcolai Ghiuselev, Pablo Elvira, Renato Cesari, Enzo Dara and Alexander Vadernicov. He was conducted by batons of great stature such as Francesco Mollinari Pradelli, Peter Maag, Mark Janowsky, Jacques Pernoo, marcel Conraud, Romano Gandolfi, Laszlo Halazz, Juan Emilio Martini, Guillermo Brizzio and Juan Carlos Zorzi; in 1990 he travel to Taiwan, where he conducted a repertoire and interpretation course for Italian and French Repertory. 
In 2000 he made his debut as Conductor with La Traviata, in Medellín, Colombia. Since then, he has also develop an intense international activity in this profession, conducting operas such as Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Carmen, Aída, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, Un Giorno di Regno, Così fan Tutte, Don Pasquale, La Belle Hélène, L’elisir d’Amore, Pagliacci, La Bohème and Otello.
