Carmen Romeu

Carmen Romeu finished her singing studies in Valencia with Ana Luisa Chova and Husan Park. Since 2007 Carmen Romeu has been part of the “Opera Studio” in the Accademia Santa Cecilia de Roma, where she has studied with Renata Scotto. She has won different prizes in competitions such as “Beca Montserrat Caballé – Bernabé Martí”, “Concurso de Canto Ciudad de Logroño”, “Concurso Internacional de Canto Manuel Ausensi”, “Concorso Internazionale Ottavio Ziino” in Roma and she was awarded Fundación Teatro Campoamor’s Breakout Artist Award in 2013.
She has sung under the baton of L. Maazel, R. Chailly, K. Nagano, A. Zedda, D. Renzetti, P. Fournillier, M. Mariotti, C. Rizzi, C. Rovaris, C. Soler, W. Crutchfield, E. Nielsen, C. Aragón, M. Angius, T. Battista… and under the stage direction of L. Ronconi, E. Sagi, G. Vick, D. Livermore, C. Scarton, among others.
She has performed Dido et Aeneas (Dido), L’elisir d’amore (Adina) and Orfeo ed Euridice (Euridice) at the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia; Il Viaggio a Reims (Madama Cortese), Ciro in Babilonia (Argene), Tancredi (Roggiero), La Donna del Lago (Elena), Armida (Armida) and Duetti Amorosi with Lena Belkin at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Lo Scoiattolo in gamba, The cunning little vixen, Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) and L’Heure Espagnole (Concepción) at the Roma's Auditorium; Le streghe di Venezia in Ravenna;  L’isola disabitata (Costanza) at Bilbao's Arriaga and at Seville's Maestranza; Ainadamar (Nuria) in Granada; Trust de los Tenorios, Puñao de Rosas (Rosario), Marina (Marina), La del manojo de rosas (Ascensión) and Clementina (title role) at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid; Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) and Poliuto (Paolina) at the Teatro São Carlos in Lisbon; La Corte de Faraón (Lota) at the Arriaga; Rossini's Adina (Adina) at the Reate Festival (Italy); La Bohème (Musetta) at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia and Bilbao's ABAO; La Traviata (Violetta Valéry) in Oviedo and Córdoba; La del manojo de rosas (Ascensión) at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and at the Teatro de la Maestranza; Otello (Desdemona) at the Vlaamse Opera; Bagatelles at the Bilbao's Teatro Arriaga and in Coruña; Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina) in Oviedo; Don Checco (Fiorina) at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; La Bohème (Musetta) at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo; Armida (Armida) at the Opera Vlaanderen.
As a soloist, she has given concerts all over the region of the Valencian Community, as well as at the Asociación Amigos de la Ópera de Madrid, Valencia’s Sociedad Filarmónica (Palau de la Música), Terras sem Sombra Festival in Portugal, Enclave de Cartagena Festival, Sagunt in excelsis, Los Cuartitos del Arriaga (Teatro Arriaga, Bilbao), Rieti Festival, Rome’s Belcanto Festival, Recital with Carlos Álvarez at Albacete’s Teatro Circo, Isaac Albéniz Festival…
Her concert activities include Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, Händel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Rossini’s Soirées Musicales, Pugnani’s Betulia liberata. Also Rossini's Stabat Mater with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi and at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Haydn's Seasons at the Teatro Nacional São Carlos in Lisbon and Die Jahreszeiten at the Terras sem Sombra Festival, among others.
Her recent performances and next engagements include Rossini's Otello at Theater an der Wien, Idomeneo at the Palau de les Arts, Las Golondrinas at Madrid's Teatro de la Zarzuela and at Oviedo's Teatro Campoamor, Otello (Desdemona) and La Bohème (Musetta) at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, Cosi fan tutte (Fiordiligi) at Teatre Principal de Palma, Il Pianto di Maria at the Palau de la Música in Valencia with Capella de Ministrers  and soon she will make her debut in a main role at the Teatro Real in Madrid
