Adina Aaron
Adina Aaron is considered one of the most promising spinto sopranos to have emerged in the last few years, especially since her great successes in Aida, Tosca, Il Trovatore or Luisa Miller at opera houses like Washington, Marseille, Cologne, Stuttgart and at festivals including Savonlinna Festival and Wiesbadener Maifestspiele. Of special interest is her role and house debut as Lady Macbeth in the new production of Verdi’s Macbeth at Theater an der Wien with Bertrand de Billy conducting early in the season 2016/17. This production will be followed by concert performances of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and a new production of Aida at Théâtre de La Monnaie Bruxelles.
Previous engagements led her to appear as Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera and to the Anchorage Opera as Leonora Il Trovatore. She debuted as Aida at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and sang Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte at the Israeli Opera. In Franco Zeffirelli’s new production of Aida she sang the title role at the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini Busseto. The production was broadcasted by RAI throughout Europe and published on DVD by TDK. In the 2009/2010 season Adina Aaron appeared in La Bohème as Mimi and as Elisabetta in Don Carlo in Tel Aviv. Furthermore she sang Tosca at the Salerno Festival in France, Alice Ford in Falstaff and Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera as well as the female leading part in Treemonisha at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. In the 2011/2012 season she performed Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito and took over the soprano part in a staged version of the Verdi Requiem in Cologne, which she already sang in Marseille. She returned to Marseille as Leonora in Il Trovatore in 2012, after her appearance in the same role in Avignon. The Opéra de Montreál engaged her as Leonora as well. In 2012/2013 she sang Aida at the Aalto-Theater in Essen and she gave her Tosca debut and sang the Verdi Requiem at Oper Stuttgart. At the beginning of the 2013/2014 season she gave her debut at the Washington National Opera as Leonora in Verdi’s La forza del destino and performed the same role in Cologne, followed by The last days of a condemned man in Avignon. In the past season she gave her house debut at the Lyric Opera Chicago with Porgy and Bess. Furthermore she sang Tosca in Marseille and Wiesbaden and Luisa Miller in Stuttgart. In the season 2015/2016 Adina Aaron returned to Oper Köln as Aida and Tosca as well as to Oper Stuttgart as Tosca. Furthermore she sang Verdi’s Requiem in Nantes at the end of the season.
Besides the mentioned roles her repertory includes Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Contessa in Le Nozze de Figaro, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Carlisle Floyd in Susannah, Micaela in Carmen, Sister Rose in Dead Man Walking, Musetta in La Boheme and Liu in Turandot.
Her concert repertory includes Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Barber’s Knoxville Summer of 1915, Masses of Beethoven and Mozart as well as Berlioz’ Les Nuits d'Été.
Adina Aaron graduated as Bachelor of Music at the Florida International University and as Master of Music at the Boston Conservatory.
